When You Need a Renewal
You should apply for a replacement or renewal if:
- Your card has expired (cards issued after 7 January 2021 are valid for 3 years).
- Your card is lost, stolen, or damaged.
- You have legally changed your name.
- Your appearance has changed significantly.
- You are moving into a higher age band (13, 16, or 18) and your birthday is within the next 3 months.
- You want to upgrade to a Yoti CitizenCard (combining physical and digital ID).
- (Note: Cards issued before October 2009 cannot be replaced and require a fresh first-time application).
